EK TARA X TBP
The Burlap People has partnered with EkTara Creates the vocational training and livelihood arm of EkTara, a Kolkata-based NGO working with women from marginalized, underprivileged, and minority communities.
Together, we co-create a range of lifestyle and utilitarian products-pouches, bag charms, stitched fabric panels, and more-crafted from upcycled and recycled textile waste from our production process. These are transformed through artisanal techniques like hand embroidery and intricate detailing, led by the skilled women at EkTara Creates.

Our mission is carried out by two studios on two different coasts, united in the goal of keeping handcrafts alive. We work stitch by stitch, not click-by-code, honoring generational skills, perfected techniques, and ongoing evolution.
We prioritize planet-friendly, plant-based burlap and low-impact threads, creating durable products designed to return to the earth. Our purpose is fostered through collaboration over competition, growing a conscious community of artisans and people who choose to carry stories, not just stuff. Many hands work together towards this single goal.
