TBP X Vraj:bhoomi
Working out of the state of Gujarat, Vraj:bhoomi, like The Burlap People integrates traditional Indian artisanal craft with modern design sensibility. One of their key crafts and ideas has been the revival of the age-old Sindhi art of Ajrakh. When we at The Burlap People first saw examples of their Ajrakh prints, we knew instantly that we had to bring together the two crafts. No one had ever thought to print burlap with it, and we had to see what it looked and felt like. The result was earthy, dark crimson mingling with indigo the shade of Krishna's skin. The kind of thing only gypsies should be allowed to carry. So here you go... two age old Indian arts coming together. At Vraj:bhoomi they say the idea begins as a shared effort between the designer and the craftspeople... we couldn't agree more.
